I would recommend this university since apart from the essential theoretical knowledge the university also provides to their student great opportunities in improving their practical skills. The laboratories are well equipped, have new technology, competent specialists and every student fins all the necessary support…

The exchange was very well

Anonymous student studied Applied Sciences & Professions in Tampere, Finland

The exchange was very well organized before coming there, meanwhile and afterwards. The education system (in Finland) is very high and very advanced and specific in my area of expertise. The culture is , even though european, exotic and worth getting to know. Nature, culture and people in this country are wonderful.

The only drawback of Tampere

Anonymous student studied in Tampere, Finland

The only drawback of Tampere were the people there. My general opinion about Finnish people is that they like to smile, give you directions but nothing more, you cannot be friends with them because they seem to be afraid or just act in a really bazar way. Everybody knows English there but they are so shy to speak it!…

Tampere is a really nice city, it has everything you need, has some universities, so a lot of students live there and a lot of parties, trips and events are organised. Tampere is situated between two huge lakes, so the surrounding nature is amazing. In a few minutes from the center you can walk through the forest, on the river of the lakes and you can do sauna and cook in a barbecue like a real Finnish! The culture is really different from Italy and the weather too, that's why I choose to spend there my exchange period. People speak English perfectly and they are very nice and helpful. You will never feel alone and you will enjoy Finnish culture really much!

Guys, get ready for your coldest winter ever!! You will soon get used to it but bring a lot of warm clothes and shoes. Bring also a lot of swimsuits and a pair of flipflop. I used to do sauna three times a week for five months and that's really good for your body. So don't be scared by their strange habit. And if you can, you should take the trips that are organised for students. (I went to Lapland, Norway, Stockholm, Tallinn, Helsinki and Saint Petersburg) Trips for students are cheaper and you will visit amazing countries.

Finland is an expensive country but there are a lot of advantages for students. With the student card you can get discounts on public transport, trips, cinema, parties and also in some restaurants and cafeterias. That's why they are really helpful with students. Lunch at university costs 2,50 euros and you can get water, bread, salad and the main dish with meat, rice and vegetables, so I would say it was cheaper than my home university. In tampere there are specific accommodation for students. I lived right in the city center in a room shared with two other girls and with a shared kitchen. The residence has also a sauna and a gym that students can use whenever they want. The price was around 230 euros per month, including water, electricity, WiFi, sauna and gym, so it was cheap compared to Milan!! Finland in general is expensive but students can absolutely live very well there, that's why I would recommend going there!

The courses were different from Italy. We had to work into groups and prepare a lot of presentations and projects. I like this kind of teaching because in this way you get to know a lot of different cultures and you can improve a lot your communication and language skills. At the end of the courses we had to present our project in front of our classmates, so we could improve our English skills.
